Every body said “No. No. No.”. Not one person believed in her! But she just kept on trying.
One time, this Big Hot Shot Hollywood Director told Cher “No.” And she was over it she said “You know what? I am talented and one day you’re gonna be so sorry!”
She was basically like “Fuck it, I’m going to New York to study acting. I won’t be making much money but I’m gonna do what I need to do to achieve my dreams!” She had the willpower.
So she left her mega-high paying job performing in Las Vegas to standing room only crowds to go to New York to become a student.
And then BAM!
This random magical thing happened where her Mom accidentally called this big time producer in the middle of the night looking for Cher.
Bottom line. After he found out she was in New York trying to be an actress he offered her a job.
Not just any job, a freakin’ lead role on Broadway with all these accomplished actresses and she didn’t even have to try out!
Of course she was crazy happy! And even though she had mass stage fright when she got out on stage she clicked into her “Cher fabulousness” and did it!
She loved acting in her play and she performed with a grateful and happy heart.
Even during the matinee performance when all the other actress’s where like. “Ugh it’s not even worth it to be good during these matinees because there’s nobody important in the audience, just ladies who catch a show and have lunch in the middle of shopping.”
But Cher didn’t judge it. She was free and happy and performed her little ass off.
And guess what?
There was an “important person” in the matinee audience that day. It was a Big Hot Shot Hollywood Director and he offered Cher her first big part in a movie.
Not just any part and not just any movie. She would co-star with the biggest and best actress of all time, Miss. Meryle Streep!!! Hollar!!!
She did that movie and it was a ground breaking roll and a ground breaking performance by Cher and she won a Golden Globe and was nominated for a frickin’ Academy Award!!!
And that Big Hot Shot Hollywood Director was the same dude who had told her “No”.
And Cher was right, he was sorry and she was talented. But Cher’s also very forgiving and I’d say he made it up to her. :)
